I'm confused about Bogus Journey!

Okay, here is another mystery the world may never find an answer to.

After it shows the devil and Ted says: "Who's that?", when he says "Oh yeah", you can see he is holding some sort of pole/stick. You can also see it when the rock they are on gets pulled and Bill and Ted fall down.

What is that pole/stick for?
