Here's the rub: what the movie studios tend to do when releasing DVDs is they will put out a very plain, simple DVD with just the movie first to see what kind of market there is for it. If the DVD sells really well and there's a collector's market for it, they will then consider putting out a special collector's edition of the same movie but with extras and special features. *Typically* this is what is done, which is why there's always hope for a special edition Bill & Ted (I don't have any numbers on how the DVD sales are doing but I would assume they are pretty good; not sure if there's a magic number the studios shoot for before thinking special edition). It's a smart marketing plan, because fans will end up buying about five copies of the same movie to get all the special versions! So keep thinking good thoughts, babes and dudes, and hopefully a special edition will eventually be made! :)
