A very good question, and one I wondered about myself for a long time! I had the opportunity while running the Bill & Ted fan club to ask Ed Solomon this question in person. But he didn't have an answer! He didn't remember that the S. had actually stood for anything. So I guess the S. in Bill's name will forever remain a mystery!
