I've never read or heard of any specific reason why this word was used, but I have made the speculation that Ed and Chris used the word "station" because when you drive into San Dimas, California, along the 210 freeway there was a big sign for a small strip mall called the San Dimas Station and the word Station is really large and prominent on the sign. This may or may not be the reason but it's the only connection I've made regarding this word. I'm not even sure the sign is still there but one day if I get up that way again I'll take a picture if it is. One of the great mysteries! :) Party On!
