Well, okay, it might only be a 'thing' but find out lots about him first, give it a trial run, sorta thing. I depends whether you can handle the shady background thing really. I'm sure you'll find out if you are right for each other, and hey, if not, I guess there's no harm in being friends. 'Play things' are good, but they can make ya a little restless after a while, and I guess the guys feel a little rejected. Anyway, I hope that helped. Party on! Lol.
