Updated Biography

Dana Stevens has made only a handful of film appearances, but she has been the screenwriter of some very notable films.  Her background was originally in theatre.  She was raised in Phoenix, Arizona, but graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts.

Her first screenplay to be produced was for the film Blink, directed by Michael Apted in 1994.  In 1998 she penned the script for City of Angels which starred Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan.  Then in 1999 she adapted the screenplay for the Kevin Costner film For Love of the Game from the Michael Shaara novel.  She also wrote the screenplay for Life or Something Like It which was directed by Stephen Herek (who also directed Excellent Adventure).

Film roles include appearances in the movies Leaving Normal (written by Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey co-writer Ed Solomon), Nell and Extreme Measures.  On television she has appeared in Family Ties, China Beach, Good Grief, Doctor Doctor and thirtysomething.

Recent writing work includes a TV series called What About Brian and she also acted as executive producer on the 2009 film Julia & Julia.
